Why You’re Not Getting Ahead and How to Change That

I was sitting and thinking about why so many Christians are living unfulfilled lives and not shining as the light that they are called to be. And I believe that God shared with me the reasons why.

The problem is that believers are weary from trying to have the best of both worlds instead of prioritizing God and His Kingdom.

Christians are now fraternizing with wolves and wondering why they can’t seem to catch a break. They are not fully sold out to God and His will, plan, and purpose for their lives. They are essentially trying to live without God while praying and asking God to help and bless them.

And nothing works long-term because they’re trying to live part-time as a sheep and part-time as a wolf. Their hope is fading, and their faith is diminishing. They are losing their drive and motivation to pursue more out of life.

We can fool people sometimes but can’t fool God at any time.

You cannot serve two masters.

You have to choose who you will serve. God has given every man free will and with that free will, He has set two choices before us: life and death. And to alleviate any confusion, He told us to choose life. Why? Because He has given life to us abundantly. He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness.

But we don’t have access to those things if we don’t love the Lord with all our heart, mind, and strength – if we do not strive to obey Him. We must seek His Kingdom first and His righteousness and all we need will be given to us.

The problem is that you’re looking for the promises and blessings of God but not doing your part. You’re not demonstrating your love for Him. You’re not obedient to His word. You’re not thinking how He wants you to think therefore you’re not living how He desires you to live.

And that my friend has to be corrected. God’s promises are sometimes conditional.

You will continue to live a settled-for, average life until you realign yourself with God’s will and purpose for your life and walk in obedience.

You cannot truly succeed or realize your God-given potential without surrendering ALL to God – your will, plans, and ambitions.

Repent of your sins and ask God what He wants to do in you and through you. Ask Him about the unique purpose for which He has created you, so that you may bring Him glory. Ask Him to create in you a clean heart and renew His right Spirit in you.

You cannot win apart from God.

You live, move, and have your being in Him.

So, if you’re weary and feeling hopeless, go back to God. Get realigned with your Creator. Then you will begin to see your hope restored, your faith increased, your mind renewed, and your path illuminated so you can run your race and pursue your God-given potential.

Take your focus off your trials and your afflictions and look to God. He is where your help comes from. You will not always know the how. Your job is to trust the one that does, do what you know to do, and ask God for wisdom. He will lead you, give you wisdom, and cause things to work out for your good. Trust Him to tell you what you need to know when you need to know it, remembering that His thoughts are higher than your thoughts and His ways are higher than your ways.

He is the Potter. You are the clay. And you can only be all He created you to be when you allow Him to mold and shape you how He sees fit for you to be of use in His Kingdom.

What are some specific areas in your life where you may be trying to straddle both the ways of the world and your commitment to God, and how can you begin to realign those areas with His will and purpose for you?
